Artist's Comments

I had a commission to build a special pair of steampunk goggles for someone. They wanted it to have a beak that covered their nose instead of the normal goggle bridge. It took quite a bit of fiddling and some largish scraps of leather before I got something I was happy with. Finally soaked this piece in water for awhile and stretched it over a metalic cone like I do for my formed leather masks. A stitch at the top gave the beak more definition. All in all, I think I'm mostly happy with the results.

Also, Dremmel tool = ♥. I drilled holes around the metal rings this time and bolted the leather to them. No more hammering holes into the metal and stitching with wire, I'm much happier with this look.

Forgive the crappy quality photos D: I only have a cellphone to work with right now.
